Teacher of the Month
Teacher of the Year

Capital Educators Federal Credit Union is proud to introduce our new grant program for teachers called: Teacher of the Month/Teacher of the Year.  This program will run from September 2008 through May 2009.  It is part of our Mission to invest back into the education community based on our Charter that created our member-based Credit Union in 1936.  We will select two Teachers of the Month from grant applications submitted that month from within our field of membership area, which includes the fifteen (15) southwestern Idaho counties.  Each Teacher of the Month selected will receive a $750.00 grant.  In June 2009, a Teacher of the Year will be selected and they will be awarded a $2,500.00 grant to be used the following school year.  The program is designed to help teachers pay for programs, materials, special projects, or field trips for the students in their classrooms.  The program ideas are not limited to those listed here because we believe there are many innovative teachers that will come up with new and creative ideas for their students.  We also know that financial resources are stretched thin in classrooms across the region and this new grant program is an effort to help teachers and students explore additional educational opportunities they might not otherwise enjoy.

Every month public, charter, and private school teachers in K-12 in our membership area will be eligible for the Teacher of the Month grant.  We will give TWO grants per month: one to a teacher in the larger school districts (4A and 5A Districts) and one to a teacher in the smaller school districts (3A, 2A, and 1A), which includes charter, private, and other schools.  Teachers are eligible for only one monthly grant during the school year.  We will be giving two Teacher of the Year awards in June 2009 to teachers, one in the large and one in the small district categories.  ALL teachers will be eligible for the $2,500.00 Teacher of the Year award to be given in June 2009 and used for the following school year.

The first monthly awards will be given in September 2008 and continue through May of 2009.  The Selection Committee will notify the two Teachers of the Month recipients within ten days of the application deadline (10th of each month).  Each Teacher will be awarded a check in their name during a recognition event at their school.  The application forms, eligible schools, and details about the program are available online at www.capedfcu.org or can be picked up at any of the six CapEd locations in Ada and Canyon County.  The deadline for each month’s grant is the 10th of the month.

Applications or questions can be submitted to any of the CapEd locations, sent to Kathy Palumbo in the Meridian office by fax at 208-855-0482, or emailed to Kathy@capedfcu.org.
